Description of the painting by Vasily Tropinin “Lady behind the firmware”

Tropinin was born and raised in the Novgorod province. Educated at a regular public school. In early childhood, he showed artistic abilities. However, Count Morkov considered it necessary to send Vasily Tropinin to study confectionery. But genius everywhere will be able to break through and develop his talent.

It happened with Tropinin - he enrolled as a free student at the Academy of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg. At one of the exhibitions held by the Academy of Arts, his work was noticed by Empress Elizaveta Alekseevna. As a result of this, the count decided to pick up Vasily from the Academy and sent him away from St. Petersburg and the Academy to another of his estates. Here he was sent to carry out a varied rough draft, but Vasily did not lose heart.

Thanks to his perseverance and work, in 1824 he manages to receive the well-deserved title of academician-portrait painter. The immediate success brought him his work, in which he portrayed young girls at work. The picture "Behind the Firmware" was the third of this series, which brought the artist a high social status. On the canvas we see the depicted young woman who holds lace in her hands. Her face is covered with a blush, she is not richly dressed, but with taste and clothing she can be said to be a city dweller. This is no longer a serf servant, but a metropolitan tradesman.

Tropinin's work had a great influence on the further work of many Russian painters. Today, the work of Vasily Tropinin is stored in many museums and art galleries of the Russian Federation.
